Anil Kapoor in WELCOME

“Welcome” is a Hindi movie released in 2007. It is written by Anees Bazmee and Rajeev Kaul and also directed by Anees Bazmee. “WELCOME” is an open invitation to everyone to leave the worries outside the cinema and heartily enjoy the comedy, belonging to the genre of ‘Gallows Humor’:  a kind of comedy in which traumatic situation like fighting, shooting, hostile environments and lurking deaths are presented. This comedy is formed by the dupe. Here in Welcome we find a dupe Rajiv Saini (Akshay Kumar) who is in his best action to make us convince about his helplessness, involuntariness and disposition. His only offense is to fall in love with Sanjana S. Shetty (Katrina Kaif). Sanjana belongs to a family of criminal background. Her brotherUday Shankar Shetty (Nana Patekar) tries his best to find a decent and innocent person for his sister while some forces are armed to put barriers in his way.

Uday Shankar Shetty and Sanjana are stepbrother and step sister, one from black and one from white breed. Uday inherited the criminal gang of his father but wants his sister to be married with the non-criminal person. After little struggle with the help of Sagar ‘Majnu’ Pandey (Anil Kapoor) he becomes able to find such person named Rajiv and wants him to marry him with his sister. Ridiculously Rajiv son of Dr. Ghungroo (Paresh Rawal) and Sanjana happen to meet separately and becomes prey to love. Everything is settled but in the name of comedy everything takes a long route to reach its conclusion. All the incidents, coincidences, clashes and crashes are so humorous and farcical that one laughs excessively.

Akshay Kumar is looking perfect in his get up and does his role with full judgment. Katrina is a perfect match for him. Her bewitching smile and charming personality makes her fascinating woman for opposite. She is not so great in acting butyet in this movie she has the scope to allure the audience by her beauty. Entrance of Malika Shiraawat in second half adds a drama and sex element in the movie which is also a source of laugh instead of attraction. Paresh Rawal is an incomparable artist and in all genres of acting he acknowledges himself.  Appearance of Sunil Shetty (himself) as hero and Asrani as producer is attributive by Anees Bazmi.

Anil Kapoor, who has legendary characters history in movies like “Nayak”, “Om Jai, Jagdesh”,  and “Viraasat”, is now taking slightly or completely negative roles. This brings a revolutionary change in his acting and get up. We find an enthusiastic personality in him who has a lot more energy to do quality work on the screen. Assisting Nana Patekar, he seems perfect in his role. His appearance, dialogues and comic behavior is so natural and timely that it increases the authenticity of situation. Situational humor created by Anil is more than reality. His coordination with Nana Patekar and Akshay Kumar proves that he is an artist of high caliber. Guardian attitude towards Katrina and comically enthralled by Shiraawat he fits so well in the scenes that his “NO ENTRY” and “WELCOME” set a new dimensions in his career as a film star.
