Aishwarya Rai in Shaheed

SHAHEED
23 March 1931
Art has been using as a source of entertainment for centuries. However, it is not restricted to only time pass things. Art covers the topic of history, religion, comedy, romance etc. The film SHAHEED falls in the category of history. It narrates the courageous and heart striking story of Bhagat Singh who got hang on 23rd of March 1931 for his rebellion against British for freedom. Bhagat Singh in the struggle of freedom sacrificed not only his family (mother Amrita Singh) but also his love (Aishwarya).

The appealing fact about the film is that it is true and useful to tell the glorious history of Indian fighter to the present generation who had the courage to take step against erroneous attitude. Boby Deol plays the part of Bhagat Singh impressively as his plus point was his utmost similarity to the real Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh had captured many painful incidents of British enormities. He joined the team of Chandrashekkar Azad (Sunny Deol) and his army to wage war against British Rule. At the end however their struggles failed to achieve freedom for their people yet they leave a history for the people to follow.

All the scenes like Bhagat’s memories
- The time when he thinks of the weal and woe of his childhood where British kills the innocent children, women and old people.
- His determination to fight for the freedom and joining the team of Chandrashekar Azad. His daring attempts to give loss to the British army are really excite the will to support the Bhagat’s true cause.
- His life in jail reminds us the plight of prisoners who are suffering without any real crime. His hunger strike for the sake of respectable treatment should be given to the prisoners is very daring step.

Aishwarya Rai in ShaheeHowever story revolves around the main characters and only narrated the clips of different time periods of Bhagat’s Singh life. The passionless narration of the incidents is quite boring and fails to achieve the real impact on the audience. Sunny Deol is in his typical style of Jaga Badmash and many time his dialogue delivery is not according to the demand of the scenes. Boby Deol is well with his appearance but somewhere lose the grip on dialogues and emotions and performs like a robot.

The Fault does nto lie with the direction of Guddu Dhanoa rather story written by Sutanu Gupta is not in harmony. While penning down the life of Bhagat Singh he totally forgets the requirements of the film making and put in order the events without any purposeful manner. Aishwarya in her guest appearance leaves good impact on the tense nerves of the audience as the movie is historical narration and no curiosity to wait for the next happening.

On the part of Aishwarya it seems that after attaining popularity after modeling in film she has now decided to take a break. It is therefore mostly in 2002 films she is appearing as guest star where she has nothing to do just showing her beauty and enjoying the fame. However, not bad as she really deserves the appreciation not only for her beauty but also the talent she shows in Bollywoood Box office silver screen. Songs of this film are also very well captured and express love for homeland and sense of self respect. Even the minor characters like Sukhdev Rahul Dev) and Rajguru (Vicky Ahuja) leave unforgettable impact on the minds of spectators. At time film lose the interest as story lacks the emotions and drama in the dialogues but the authenticity of the topic plays bigger role to make it wothy to be seen.
