It is an Indian movie however performed in English language as it is taken from English novel ‘Pride and Prejudice’ written by Jane Austin. It is directed by Gurinder Chadha and transformed into English Indian culture debut by Paul Mayeda Berges.

The story is quite authentic as truly shows the thoughts and worries of daughters’ parents. Bride and prejudice is the story of two leading characters that are self-centered and egocentric.

Both develop a sort of prejudice against one another and are not ready to retreat. Film opens with Mrs. Bakhshi’s worries for her daughters’ (Jaya, Maya, Lakhi and Lalita) marriage and Lalita’s declaration for love marriage.

Bride and Prejudice is a beautiful combination of family drama and romance. It is a truly cultural film in which India’s traditions and marriage festival is seen. Marriage’s rituals are fascinating and Indians are used to celebrate it with full zeal and zest. All four sisters with their mothers are invited in a pre-wedding party. In the party, Balraj brings his old friend William Darcy pronounced sometimes as Will or Darcy. Darcy and Lalita feel a magnetic attraction and get entangled in Traditional Bhangra. Darcy is a simpleton regarding Indians Traditional dance and got a chance to make couple with Lalita he just stand and see her with curiosity. Lalita makes wrong perception and thinks that Darcy does not want to dance and that he is very proud. Their misunderstanding develops speedily and instead of feeling attraction both repels each other badly by their attitude.

Rest of Lalita’s sister’s stories also develop in the movie as Balraj gets bonding with Jaya but both do not express their feelings for one another. Johnny enters the scene and throws mist in the eyes of Lalita by portraying Darcy as callous, envious and avarice person. She readily agrees with him and develops friendship with Johnny. Confusion becomes more complex and situation becomes worst when Johnny shows interest in Lakhi. However he leaves without anything special and story takes a break here.

Darcy finds that he is in love with Lalita and tries to patch up with her. The confusion dissolves and love relation build up. But still the drama not ended as Anne appeared on the screen, Will’s old girlfriend. Darcy tells the truth about Jonny and both rushes to save Lakhi from him. A typical Indian scene created here as Darcy fight with Johnny and made him run.

The film Bride and Prejudice is good to see but not up to the mark movie. Characters are fine as Martin Henderson gives stunning performance and got the hearty approval of Indian audience but their actions are somewhat delay as they are continuously thinking something else. Songs are good to enjoy and punch lines spoken by Mr. Bakhshi in return to Mrs Bakhshi are very amusing and delight us to the core of heart.
