Aishwarya Rai in Mela

Mela is a commercial movie written by Robin Bhatt and directed by Dharmesh Dharshan, released on January 2000. In this film a traditional festival called as Mela is seen and picturized in its true sense as how villagers take parts in the preparation and how they celebrate their happiness. The first half of the film depicts the preparations and excitement of the villagers. In second half, crowd of the mela took the shape of mob.

The story of this Mela is not traditional Hindi movie with triangle of heroine with two matches. It is a vow of heroine to fight against injustice and bring avenge for her brother’s murder and family destruction. Leading role is given to the female and thoughts and discussions are centered on the topic of woman and her strength.

While going through the list of Aishwarya’s movies, Mela comes at 8th number. However, Aish has not leading role in it. She has to give guest appearance in the movie in one dance number. No dialogues are there for her to speak. Aamir Khan, Faisal Khan and Twinkle Khanna are doing main roles. Story of the film revolves around these three characters where Aishwarya’s appearance is a source of freshness and a tool to attract number of audience.

There are different opinions, reviews, critics and discussions about Aishwarya’s character in the movie. One very positive remark comes into notice that Aishwarya is the fast friend of Twinkle and here sher is favoring her by playing very little role. Another controversy is that why Aishwarya and Aamir are not seen in one movie while Aishwarya has done much quality work with shahrukh khan andSalman Khan but not with Aamir khan yet. Spectators are eager about these Indian Idols who are doing best individually to find them in one movie to perform at their best producing quality work mutually.
