Aishwarya Rai in Raincoat

Raincoat

Raincoat is an Indian Movie released in 2004 and marks the end of the year as a successful period of the Aishwarya’s Film life. As she has performed artistically in Bride & Prejudice, Shaheed, Khakee, and Kyun…Ho Gia Na! Raincoat is not an exception rather it stamped on the Aishwarya’s biography as the best actress in the Bollywood history. All the films made in 2004 were creative, topical stories and with the margin for the acting and Aishwarya has not left the chance to exhibit her excellence. She comes up with novelty and originality in Bride & Prejudice, sincerity in Shaheed, bravery in Khakee, romantically in KHGN and egotistically in Raincoat.

Aishwarya Rai in RaincoatRaincoat has written and directed by Rituparno Ghosh. It is an allegorical film in which director used the allegory of raincoat as a tool to represent the different aspect of life. He depicts comprehensively that like a raincoat which saves our exterior being spoiled by rain similarly prevarication has been used by the leading roles of the film to hide their true conditions. They intentionally through dust in one another’s eyes and create vagueness and ambiguity to cover their distress plight from one another.

Neerju nick Neeru (Aishwarya) married to a rich businessman to alter her poverty into luxurious life and rejected her childhood fellow Manoj nick annu (Ajay Devgan). Manno does not marry in dejection and Aishwarya after seeing the false richness of her husband who is under debt and has mortgaged his house and worst side of the coin becomes a drunk. She pays heavily for her avarice and denying love life.

The story begins with Manoj’s visits to Calcutta and compelled to meet with his lost love Neeru who has been settled there after marriage. Both plays hide and seek with one another as both don’t want to expose their defeat at the hands of cruel life. Both has become the victims of cruel life and both want keep prestige. However both gets true knowledge about one another’s deplorable plight through sequential scenes but let it be the secret same as raincoat saves you from top but still you cannot avoid it effects down.

Rituparno truly deserves tribute for making such a piece of art. He really invokes the audience applauds by presenting a pure artistic topic in an authentic way. Recurring of the past scenes by and time and characters emotions and feelings are so real that straight forwardly give the credit to the director’s efforts. This film has broken the tradition of mixing songs in Movie making and still stands uprightly. Literature and life shows a beautiful relation in this movie and topic is handled very carefully to leave no leaf unturned to bring excellence in its part.
