Aishwarya Rai in Josh

Aishwarya Rai in JoshHindi film JOSH releases in 2000 is different from traditional Hindi film line. Mansoor Khan a dare to act writer and director took a step to set a new idea for film making. Love story there is but totally in a different scenario. Leaving the conventional pair of hero and heroine Mansoor go for a novelty and instead of making Aishwarya and Shahrukh heroine and hero, he bound them in brother sister relation. They appear as a twin and give a unique touch to the story.

Aishwarya Rai in JoshShirley (Aishwarya) in her bloom seems really an audacious adolescent of a rascal Max (Shahrukh Khan). The beginning of the story give the impression of English movie and all the actors adopt the characters so well that an immediate applaud come from the audience. Impressive, daring and emotional scenes in the first half of the film are appealing and have the quality to make stick the audience to the seat. The development of love relation between Shirley and Rahul is very amorous and ardent lovers can’t help to stop love in spite of having knowledge that their brothers are dead set against. The story about love and war reaches its climax and continue heading towards the nticlimax. One thinks about a shocking or surprising twist in the film but here director fails to put energy which was seemed as the essence of movie.

Dialogues, dressing, actions and scenes are presented in a very realistic way. The environment was according to the demand of the story. However, story in the second half spoil the whole impression. The disclosure about the father of Max and Shirley, murder of Prakash (Sharad Kapoor) shows in an abrupt way. It seems as if director lost his interest in the film as it took 4 long years to complete. However, film may be a practical failure yet Aishwarya’s beauty and boldness fix the deficiency.
